Biography

Canadian band led by two stalwarts of the North American indie rock scene, Spencer Krug and Dan Boeckner. Keyboard player and vocalist Krug (who is also a member of Frog Eyes, Sunset Rubdown and Swan Lake) was joined by ex-Atlas Strategic guitarist Boeckner and drummer Arlen Thompson in the early line-up of Wolf Parade, formed in Victoria, British Columbia in 2003. The trio completed a roughly recorded four-song EP that was released via their website. As the project began to take shape, Hadji Bakara (keyboards) and Dante DeCaro (guitar, ex-Hot Hot Heat) were added to the line-up, with the former joining in time to feature on the band’s second self-titled EP. After signing a recording contract with Sub Pop Records, the quartet joined producer Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse) in the studio to re-record a number of the EP tracks and complete new material.
