Biography
Originating from Austin, Texas, this US indie rock trio was formed in 2006 by James Petralli (vocals/guitar), Steve Terebecki (vocals/bass), and Joshua Block (drums). Petralli and Block had spent time playing with the noise rock band Parque Touch, which evolved into White Denim with the addition of Terebecki. A string of self-released vinyl singles and EPs followed over the next two years, some of which were also made available as downloads via the online-only label RCRD LBL. The trio’s raucous garage rock mixed blues, funk rock and psychedelia in a style reminiscent of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Royal Trux. The 2008 full-length album Explosion was recorded, like all the band’s music, in Block’s Spartan trailer located high in the hills of Driftwood.
