Biography
This US duo comprised Wendy Melvoin (26 January 1964, Los Angeles, California, USA) and Lisa Coleman (b. 17 August 1960, Los Angeles, California, USA) who were childhood friends from Los Angeles, California, and whose fathers were both session musicians. Melvoin was a pianist who encouraged his daughter to start playing guitar when she was just seven years old. Percussionist Gary Coleman was more interested in electronic music and his daughter took up keyboards. Lisa, then Wendy, became members of Princes backing band, the Revolution, in the early 80s, writing some of the music for the film Purple Rain, and remained with him until he disbanded the band in late 1986. They then embarked on a career as a duo releasing a string of minor hit singles on Virgin Records such as 1987s Waterfall, 1988s Side Show and 1989s Satisfaction (UK Top 30).
