Biography
Vesta Williams, Coshocton, Ohio, USA. R&B singer-songwriter Williams grew up in California, where her father was a DJ at KGFJ-Los Angeles. She is best known for her late 80s hits Once Bitten, Twice Shy (1986) and Congratulations (1989). The latter song peaked at number 5 on Billboards R&B chart, although she has struggled to establish herself since those breakthrough hits. Her subsequent records, like 1993s disappointing Everything-N-More, failed to distinguish her from the pack, and it was no surprise when A&M Records dropped her from their roster. She moved to MCA Records but no recordings emerged during her two-year stay there. Instead she kept busy by touring with comedian Bernie Mack, appeared in a McDonalds commercial with Al Jarreau and guested on albums by George Duke and Eric Marienthal.
