Biography
17 May 1946, Gronau, Westfalen, Germany. From homeland stardom in the 70s to the aiming of his output more directly at the English-speaking market in the late 80s, the unique rock artist Udo Lindenberg has enjoyed sales of over 20 million albums in Germany alone. Lindenbergs early career included a spell as drummer in a local jazz group playing mainstream standards such as The Shadow Of Your Smile that later found a place in his vocal repertoire. Lover Man would be performed with no lyrical alterations to reflect what he called his flexible sexuality. Further aspects of David Bowies artistic presentation were noted in Lindenbergs multi-media concerts which featured wrestlers, trampolinists and similar non-musical support acts.
