Biography

Tyrese Darnell Gibson, 30 December 1978, Los Angeles, California, USA. This photogenic urban R&B singer is also a highly successful model and actor. Gibson grew up in Los Angeles’ tough Watts ghetto, gaining his big break when he starred in a 1997 advertisement for Coca-Cola. RCA Records won the ensuing scramble for Tyrese’s signature, and were rewarded when his self-titled 1998 debut album spawned the US pop and R&B hits ‘Nobody Else’, ‘Sweet Lady’ and ‘Lately’. A high-profile string of modelling assignments for GUESS? and Tommy Hilfiger followed, as well as acting roles in the hit television series Moesha and John Singleton’s 2001 movie, Baby Boy.
