Biography
Orange County, Los Angeles, California, USA. Childs endured a migratory youth that took her across many state borders within North America, as well as a spell of four years in London, England. There she signed a publishing contract with Island Records. Returning to Los Angeles, she worked with David Ricketts (of David And David), eventually collaborating on the soundtrack to 1986s Echo Park. Reflecting her diverse past, her debut, Union, was recorded in several locations, including London, Paris, Los Angeles and Africa and featured the music of Zimbabwe, as well as more conventional singer-songwriter touches. Reaching number 67 in the Billboard charts, it earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal and a support slot on tour with Bob Dylan.
