Edwards re-recorded the song in 1958 in a ‘beat-ballad’ arrangement, hitting number 1 on both sides of the Atlantic and eventually selling 3.5 million. The song was an indisputable classic of its era, highlighted by Edwards’ strong, masterful vocal.
