Biography
Sussex, England. Rather unfairly touted as the new Jeff Buckley, this UK acoustic singer-songwriter created a mild stir with the release of his 2004 debut, Feather & Stone. The reception afforded the album marked Baxter out as a potential rival to the reigning kings of the resurgent UK singer-songwriter market, David Gray and Irelands Damien Rice. Baxter was raised in Cornwall by his musician parents. The family later relocated to the Suffolk town of Bungay where his parents ran a hotel/concert hall, and it was here that Baxter first played live in a band he had formed with his brother. He moved to London in his late teens to study music, and then spent several years playing low-key covers gigs at night while working during the day as a painter and decorator to pay the rent.
