Biography
J. Timothy Hardin, 23 December 1941, Eugene, Oregon, USA, d. 29 December 1980, Hollywood, California, USA. After spending an itinerant childhood moving around the country with his musician parents, Hardin enlisted in the US Marines and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his discharge he arrived in New York in 1962 with a full-blown heroin habit as a lasting legacy of his service. He initially studied acting, but dropped out of classes to develop his singing and songwriting. By 1964 he was appearing regularly in New Yorks Greenwich Village cafés, where he began forging his unique blend of poetic folk/blues.
