Akron, Ohio, USA. This roots rock singer-songwriter remained on the fringes of the alt country scene for much of the 90s, although by the start of the new millennium he was beginning to be talked about alongside Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Jay Farrar of Son Volt as one of the genre’s leading talents.

Raised in Akron, Ohio, Easton made his first forays into music at college with the roots rock band Kosher Spears. In the mid-90s, following a spell busking around Europe, he joined the widely tipped, Columbus-based Haynes Boys. Easton appeared on the band’s solitary album, 1996’s terrific Guardian Angel, before embarking on a solo career following their split. He made his debut in 1998 with Special 20, released on his own Heathen Records label.
