Biography
This San Diego, California, USA-based outfit, who first emerged in the early 90s, is one of the harder alt rock acts to pin down to one singular musical style. Formed by Armistead Burwell Smith (bass/vocals), Pall Jenkins (vocals/guitar) and Thomas Zinser (drums), Three Mile Pilot specialized in unpredictability and sonic experimentation from the beginning (while never forsaking melody and memorable song structures). Signed to the independent Cargo/Headhunter label shortly after their formation, the band released, 1992s bass n drums-only Nà Vuccà Dò Lupù and 1994s The Chief Assassin To The Sinister, before major labels began to take notice of the outfit. Signing a recording contract with Geffen Records, the label reissued The Chief Assassin To The Sinister a year after its initial release (with a different cover and additional bonus tracks), but despite initial high hopes, the union proved to be a fleeting one....
