Biography

This Marietta, Georgia, USA-based Christian rock band was formed in the early 90s by Mac Powell (John Powell, 25 December 1972, USA; vocals) and Mark Lee (b. 29 May 1973, USA; guitar). The line-up was completed by Tai Anderson (b. Samuel Tai Anderson, 11 June 1976, USA; bass), David Carr (b. 15 November 1974, USA; drums), and Brad Avery (b. Bradley Brent Christopher Avery, 20 August 1971, USA; guitar), and the newly formed quintet soon built up a following on the southern live circuit with their hard-hitting live act. They were signed to Gray Dot Records in March 1995, and released their self-titled debut in June. Comprising songs recorded over the previous two years and originally released on the unofficial albums Long Time Forgotten and Contagious, the album was a surprise hit, although similarities to the highly successful Hootie And The Blowfish undoubtedly helped.
