Biography
Performing a heady mix of hip-hop, reggae and contemporary rock, overlaid with colourings from the varied palettes of the American and African continents, this Belgian gathering of musicians is much more than a single entity. In a sense it might be seen as a collaboration of several bands, each of which absorbs elements of the others while simultaneously giving of itself to the ever-changing whole. When the core group first came together, they toured Belgium and France in an old truck, which served as their concert hall. Central to the multi-cultural sound is Naft, a six-piece brass group fronted by guitarist and composer David Bovée, which established a large but inevitably scattered audience. They touched upon jazz in a 2002 project that drew upon the music of Louis Armstrong.
