Biography
This folk pop duo was formed in 2001 by New York-based singer-songwriters Steve Tannen (New York City, New York, USA) and Deb Talan (b. Massachusetts, USA). After meeting at a Tannen concert they realised that their styles perfectly complemented each other and launched the Weepies (they would also enter a personal relationship and get married). Both artists continued to work in a singular capacity, however, and their partnership developed as they helped each other to write and produce solo albums. They made their bow as the Weepies with 2004s independently released Happiness, a charming collection of original material recorded with Jim Henry (guitar), Richard Gates (bass) and Jeff Berlin (drums).
