Biography

Los Angeles, California, USA-based psychedelic rock band fronted by guitarist and vocalist Bobby Hecksher. The Florida born Hecksher made his name on the Los Angeles underground scene with the bands Charles Brown Superstar and the Magic Pacer, and during the mid-90s collaborated with fellow sonic mavericks Beck and Brian Jonestown Massacre. Hecksher branched out on his own in the late 90s to form the Warlocks, a fairly fluid ensemble in which he was initially joined by J.C. Rees (guitar), Corey Lee Granet (guitar), Caleb Sweazy (bass), Jeff Levitz (guitar), Danny Hole (drums), Jason Anchondo (drums), and Laura Grisby (tambourine/vocals). Taking their name from a moniker previously employed by the Velvet Underground and the Grateful Dead, the eight-strong band played their first show on Independence Day 1998.
