Biography
This Portland, Oregon, USA-based quartet specialize in unpolished, snotty punk rock. Jokingly billed as a supergroup of sorts, all four members are veterans of other bands; Hutch Harris (vocals) and Kathy Foster (bass) also record as Hutch And Kathy, Ben Barnett (guitar) is a member of Kind Of Like Spitting, while Jordan Hudson (drums) can be also be found with the all-instrumental outfit, Operacycle. After playing only a handful of gigs together, the Thermals made the trek to Seattle, Washington for a show, where they came to the attention of the renowned local label, Sub Pop Records (at the behest of Benjamin Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie). The quartet had previously recorded demos at Harris home studio for less than $100, with its sole purpose being to attract offers from other labels.
