Formed in 1960, this popular UK folk-based attraction was based around singer-songwriter Dion OBrien (2 July 1934, Hampstead, London, England,) and his sister Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette (b. 16 April 1939, Hampstead, London, England, d. 2 March 1999, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England), who accompanied him on guitar. Better known as Tom and Dusty Springfield, the duo was later joined by the formers partner, Tim Field, and the following year the revitalized unit became one of Britains top vocal groups. The trio enjoyed UK Top 5 singles with Island Of Dreams (1962) and Say I Wont Be There (1963), by which time Field had been replaced by Mike Longhurst-Pickworth, who took the less cumbersome professional name Mike Hurst.
