Biography
The Silvertones were a vocal trio comprising Carl Grant, Delroy Denton and Keith Coley. Curiously, although the group did not serve their apprenticeship at Coxsone Dodds Studio One, they are remembered as Studio One legends. In 1975 they released Silver Bullets, which won critical acclaim but failed to make any impression on the charts through inadequate marketing. Four years later, they achieved an enormous hit with I Want To Be There. This was followed by the equally successful releases Smile, Stop Crying, Have A Little Faith and Come Forward, the latter track being credited with the Brentford Rockers, recorded in 1979. The Brentford Rockers featured an all-star line-up including Jackie Mittoo, Pablove Black, Leroy Sibbles, Leroy Horsemouth Wallace, Cleveland and Dalton Brownie, Ernest Ranglin, Roland Alphonso and Johnny Moore.
