Biography
Guided by the late Manfred Weissleder, proprietor of the citys Star Club, Hamburg teenagers Achim Reichel (28 January 1944, Wentorf, Germany; guitar/vocals), guitarist Volker Reinhold was replaced by Hajo Kreuzfeld in 1961, Herbert Hildebrandt (b. 23 January 1943, Hamburg, Germany; bass/vocals) and Dieter Sadlowsky who made way for Reinhard Tarrach (b. 21 September 1944, Henkenhagen, Germany; drums) modelled their group on the British beat image in 1962. Among their first recordings was a version of The Hippy Hippy Shake, and they often shared bills with Tony Sheridan, Cliff Bennett, the Beatles and Kingsize Taylor. Later, morale was boosted by a successful fortnights residency in Liverpools The Cavern club, and appearances on UK television.
