Biography
The origins of this Malmö, Sweden-based indie pop act lie in a general arts project that was set up by school friends Johan Duncanson (Malmö, Sweden; guitar/vocals) and Elin Almered (b. Malmö, Sweden; vocals) in 1995. Initially called the Radio Department, after the duo saw the name on a sign outside a Lund, Sweden gas station, the collective was equally focused on photography, painting, video and music. By 1998, lyricist Duncanson began to concentrate on a musical project with Martin Larsson (b. Malmö, Sweden; guitar), which simply became known as the Radio Dept. Although Per Blomgren (b. Malmö, Sweden; drums) and Larssons girlfriend, Lisa Carlberg (b. Malmö, Sweden; bass) were both recruited in 2001, by the time of the release of 2003s critically acclaimed Lesser Matters Blomgren was no longer part of the band.
