Biography

Formed at the end of the 50s in Bakersfield, California, USA, the Paradons were a vocal group which scored one US Top 20 hit in 1960 and was never heard from again. The group comprised lead singer West Tyler plus Billy Myers, William Powers and Chuck Weldon, all students at the same high school. They were discovered by Werly Fairburn and Madelon Baker, who were setting up a record label called Milestone, and were taken to Hollywood to record Tyler’s ‘Diamonds And Pearls’. It was the label’s first release and reached number 18 nationally, but subsequent singles, ‘Bells Ring’ and ‘I Had A Dream’, failed to repeat its success. A switch to Warner Brothers Records yielded one more single which failed to chart and the group disbanded.
