Biography

This famous family all-vocal group from Ogden, Utah, USA comprised Alan Osmond (22 June 1949), Wayne Osmond (b. 28 August 1951), Merrill Osmond (b. 30 April 1953), Jay Osmond (b. 2 March 1955) and Donny Osmond (b. 9 December 1957). The group first came to public notice following regular television appearances on the top-rated Andy Williams Show. From 1967-69, they also appeared on television’s Jerry Lewis Show. Initially known as the Osmond Brothers they recorded for Andy Williams’ record label Barnaby. By 1971, their potential was recognized by Mike Curb, who saw them as likely rivals to the star-studded Jackson Five. Still signed to MGM Records, they recorded the catchy ‘One Bad Apple’, which topped the US charts for five weeks. Before long, they became a national institution, and various members of the family including Donny Osmond, Marie Osmond and Little Jimmy Osmond enjoyed hits in their own right.
