Biography
US garage band the Oblivians comprised Jack Oblivian (guitar, drums, vocals), Greg Oblivian (guitar, drums, vocals) and Eric Oblivian (guitar, drums, vocals). Formed in the summer of 1993 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, they immediately wore their MC5 / Stooges influences on their sleeves, releasing a stream of obscure, independently distributed singles. Live shows saw the members regularly switch instruments. They compensated for the lack of a bass player via the low pitch emitted from their PV Classic amplifiers, distorted through a tape deck. Soul Food was released on Crypt Records in 1995, with the fusion of dirty rock and pop melodies perfectly complementing their songwriting.
