Biography

This rock 'n' roll female group came from Los Angeles, California, USA. The members were sisters Carol (1948) and Terry Fischer (b. 1946), and Sally Gordon (b. 1946). Their "Popsicles And Icicles" went to number 3 on the pop chart in 1963. The song, written by David Gates of Bread and produced by Kim Fowley, was as substantial as cotton-candy, but girl groups were the rage in 1963 and the song had an appealing young teen sound. The Murmaids were devoid of show business aspirations, having been brought to their label, Chattahoochee Records, by their parents, and having left the music business to go to college shortly after "Popsicles And Icicles" was a hit. Chattahoochee Records continued the Murmaids name through the 60s by recruiting other female members.
