Biography
Any all-encompassing classification of UK band the Monochrome Sets music would be difficult. During a sporadic career that spanned as many musical styles as it did record labels, they were on the verge of breaking to a wider audience on a number of occasions. In late 1976, Andy Warren (bass), Lester Square (Thomas Hardy; guitar) and Bid (guitar/vocals) were playing in the B-Sides with Adam Ant. When the B-Sides became Adam And The Ants, Bid and Lester Square left. They formed the Monochrome Set in January 1978, with Charlie Harper (bass/vocals) and John Haney (drums, ex-Art Attacks) completing the original line-up, although Harper was subsequently replaced by Simon Croft and then Jeremy Harrington (ex-Gloria Mundi).
