Biography
The late Kurt Cobain of Nirvana described the US rock band the Melvins as his favourite group. Unsurprising, perhaps, as they are the only other band of note to originate from his home town of Aberdeen in the USA (though they have since relocated to San Francisco), and he did once roadie for them. Drummer Dale Crover also played with Nirvana for a spell, while Cobain guested on and co-produced 1993s major label debut, Houdini, for the band. The original members of the Melvins, formed in 1984, were King Buzzo aka Buzz Osborne (4 July 1960, Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA; vocals/guitar), Mike Dillard (drums) and Lori Black (b. 9 April 1954, Santa Monica, California, USA; bass). Matt Lukin (later of Mudhoney) was also an early floating member.
