This New York-based group boasted a varied line-up and at different times was either a quintet - Alan Brewer, Diane Taylor, Charles Thomas and sisters Elyse and Maxine Herbert - a quartet, or an all-female trio. They were signed to the Red Bird label in 1964, completing two singles under the supervision of songwriters/producers Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. The first, I Wanna Love Him So Bad, reached the US Top 10, but although their follow-up, Baby Be Mine, fared less well, it was an artistic triumph. This tender ballad was one of the duos finest songs and the Jelly Beans reputation rests on their heartfelt performance. There was an attempt at recording an album for Red Bird but, it was aborted and subsequently the groups disbanded.
