Biography
Songwriter Zelma Zell Sanders formed this New York, USA-based act around her daughter, Johnnie Louise Richardson, previously half of hit duo Johnnie And Joe. Ethel Davis, Mary Sue Wells, Yvonne Bushnell and Ada Ray completed the line-up featured on Sally, Go Round The Roses, the quintets debut single and sole US chart entry. This haunting performance reached number 2 in 1963, and has since become an early classic of the girl group genre, but the Jaynetts progress was undermined when Richardson left following its release. Ensuing singles, including Keep An Eye On Her and Johnny Dont Cry, were not successful, and the group ceased recording in 1965. Johnnie Louise Richardson died in 1988.
