Biography
Jason MacIsaac (Canada) began the Heavy Blinkers as a solo studio project in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1997. The bands debut, Hooray For Everything, was engineered by Andrew Watt, who also helped out with songwriting, vocals and keyboards, while Ruth Minnikin and Greg Fry from Halifax alt country associates the Guthries provided vocals and drums respectively, and Trevor Forbes added bass. It was not until 2000s self-titled second album that the Heavy Blinkers became a fully functioning quintet. The bands starting point is a love of the songwriting and arrangements of Brian Wilson, Curt Boettcher and Van Dyke Parks, and their sound is coloured by the three-way harmonies provided by MacIsaac, Watt and Minnikin.
