Biography
Originally known as the Hammersmith Gorillas, this English trio played their own brand of punk meets rhythm and blues meets heavy rock. Initially riding on the back of the punk movement, they built up a loyal fanbase and released a string of excellent singles during the mid to late 70s, including You Really Got Me (a cover of the Kinks classic), Gatecrasher, Its My Life and Shes My Gal. Band leader Jesse Hector (vocals, guitar), ably supported by Alan Butler (bass) and Gary Anderson (drums), was influenced by several dead stars. These included Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Brian Jones, Marc Bolan and Jimi Hendrix.
