Biography

With a sound that is best described as a cross between Captain Beefheart and lo-fi indie rock, the Frogs became one of the most name-checked bands by established 90s alt rockers such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Beck, and the Smashing Pumpkins, although they remain in a ghetto of obscurity to this day. Several different members have passed through the band’s ranks since their formation during the early 80s, but through all, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA-based brothers Dennis and Jimmy Flemion (who play drums and guitar, respectively) have been present. A series of home recordings and local live shows followed, which featured Jimmy develop a gimmick that remains with him to this day, sporting larger-than-life ‘monster wings’. The band’s self-titled and self-issued debut followed in 1988. A year later, the band issued the pro-gay underground classic, It’s Only Right And Natural.
