Biography
These gritty southern rock revivalists formed in 1998 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA and grew out of the friendship of founder members Elliott McPherson (Alabama, USA; guitar, vocals, ex-Phoebes) and Sweet Dog (b. Craig Pickering; Alabama, USA; drums, ex-Verga). While McPherson had previously earned a living in furniture making, Pickering was a former marine. They each frequented local bar, the Chukker, and it was here where their plans to form a no-nonsense rock n roll band were forged. Although John Smith (b. Ohio, USA, guitar, banjo, lap steel, vocals) and Matt Patton (b. Alabama, USA; bass) also became and remained core members of the band, they were replaced for many early shows owing to the lack of proximity from Alabama of the former and the latters commitment to touring with local punk trio Model Citizen.
