The Copper Family

This well-known and established family of traditional unaccompanied singers and song collectors come from Rottingdean, Sussex, England. The family have been singing for over five generations, with songs written down by Jim Copper (1882, Rottingdean, Sussex, England, d. 1954, England). His son Bob inherited the books of songs. The various members of the family to appear on their recordings include Jim, his brother John Copper (b. Rottingdean, Sussex, England), Bob Copper (b. Robert James Copper, 6 January 1915, Rottingdean, Sussex, England, d. 29 March 2004, Brighton, East Sussex, England), cousin Ron (b. Ronald Walter Copper, 1912, England, d. 7 January 1978, England), Bob’s son John (b. John James Copper, 4 June 1949) and daughter Jill (b. Jill Susan Copper, 24 January 1945), and his son-in-law Jon Dudley.
