The female garage-rock quartet the Coathangers emerged from the same Atlanta club scene that gave birth to the Black Lips. The Coathangers share the Black Lips endearingly snotty attitude and minimalist approach towards pre-Beatles rock & roll. After forming in 2006, they quickly gained a following on the Georgia rock circuit. They began to garner wider attention following the April 2008 release of their self-titled debut, which attracted the attention of noted Indie label Suicide Squeeze, who signed the Coathangers in September of 2008.
