Biography

Formed in north London, England, in 1983, Chariot comprised Pete Franklin (vocals, guitar), Scott Biaggi (guitar), John Smith (bass) and Jeff Braithwaite (drums). Recording in a hybrid style that utilized elements of the speed metal sound of bands such as Venom and Slayer, as well as rhythmic touches redolent of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal groups, they made their debut in 1984 with The Warrior. Released on the independent Shades Records label, this project was marred by poor production but otherwise included several promising songs. Gradually extending their appeal beyond the capital, they returned to the studio in 1986 for Burning Ambitions. Despite further strong reviews (especially for their live work), it was not enough to help them to cross over into the mainstream and they disbanded shortly afterwards.
