Biography

Briefly popular with country music fans in the mid- to late 80s, the Burch sisters are Cathy (20 December 1960), Charlene (b. 19 September 1962), and Cindy (b. 1 August 1963). Although most sources suggest that they were born in Screven, Georgia, USA, it appears likely that they were born in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. The sisters made one album, 1988’s New Fire, from which came the hit singles ‘Everytime You Go Outside I Hope It Rains’, ‘What Do Lonely People Do?’, ‘I Don’t Want To Mention Any Names’ and ‘Old Flame, New Fire’. The last named song is one of the few slow ballads the sisters sang, as they chose mostly to select lively foot-tapping songs. The sisters’ style ably blended country, bluegrass and pop and their sound was airy and charming.
