Biography
This four-piece vocal group was formed in 1949 in New York, USA, and consisted of Ollie Jones (tenor), James DeLoache (bass), Abel DeCosta (tenor) and Tommy Adams (baritone). One single was released on the National label, "I Can Dream, Can't I?", in November 1949, with Adams singing lead. Their second single, "Gone", was released on Decca in May 1950 and featured a lead vocal from Jones, before DeLoach led for the follow-up, "Count Every Star". Both singles were distinguished by the group's elegant harmonies, which bridged the gospel sound of the 40s with the fast-approaching rock 'n' roll beat of the new decade. Adams was replaced by Dick Palmer and DeLoach also left, because of illness, and was replaced by Ray Johnson.
