Biography
Detroits Black Dahlia Murder share more than long snowy winters with Scandinavian bands. The melodic death metal coming out of Sweden and Norway has heavily influenced this American band. Together since the start of the decade and named after the infamous 1940s L.A. murder, their complex dynamics are relentlessly intense, but also feature a dark sense of humor. Albums like 2005s MIASMA and 2007s NOCTURNAL have helped define American metalcore and thrash for the new millennium. Blast beats, guttural vocals paired with screams, and blindingly fast guitar chops all figure into the mix, but the whole represents something new.
