Biography
Power pop made a major comeback during the late 90s, as evidenced by the emergence of several Big Star -style US outfits, including the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Bigger Lovers. The band was formed in 1998, with vocalist and guitarist Bret Tobias and bass player Scott Jefferson getting the ball rolling initially. Second guitarist Ed Hogarty and drummer Jesse Jameson joined the line-up shortly afterwards, but it was not until Jameson was replaced by Patrick Berkery that Bigger Lovers began playing on a regular basis. The quartets debut, How I Learned To Stop Worrying, was released in 2001 and received favourable local press and radio support, and even earned some airtime in the UK. A year later Bigger Lovers issued the excellent follow-up, Honey In The Hive.
