Biography
The Bellrays merge soulful female vocals with vibrant garage rock straight out of Detroit from the late 60s, uncannily similar at times to Blue Cheer. Originally formed during the early 90s and hailing from Riverside, California, USA, the Bellrays started off as more of a straight ahead R&B/blues outfit, featuring Lisa Kekaula on lead vocals. By the time guitarist Bob Vennum moved over to bass and the band welcomed new members Tony Fate (guitar) and Hot Rod Todd Westover (drums) on board, the Bellrays had taken on a more hard rock-based sound. The band quickly made a name for themselves on the Los Angeles club circuit with an explosive stage act, sharing the stage with similarly styled outfits such as the Streetwalkin Cheetahs, the Hellbenders, and the B-Movie Rats.
