Adetayo Ayowale Cruz Onile-Ere, Sussex, England. Touted as the UK’s answer to John Legend on the release of his debut album in 2008, this UK singer-songwriter mirrored his American counterpart in having worked behind the scenes for several years as a writer and producer before enjoying solo success. Raised in London by his Nigerian father and Brazilian mother, Cruz was drawn to music while at school and was already writing his own songs by the time he graduated from Stanmore College. He spent time in America in the mid-00s working with Dallas Austin and Timbaland, and the valuable experience he gained during his US sojourn prompted him to found his own Rokstarr Music London publishing company upon his return to England.
