Biography
21 November 1962, Paducah, Kentucky, USA. Since the release of his 1987 debut First Hand Chapman has established himself as contemporary Christian musics most successful solo artist, winning over 30 Dove Awards, three Grammy Awards, and regularly placing number 1 singles on the CCM chart. The son of an amateur songwriter Chapman dropped out of pre-med school in Indiana to chance his arm in Nashville. His songwriting skills were first utilised by gospel act the Imperials, but in 1987, Chapman signed a solo contract with the prestigious label Sparrow Records. A string of number 1 hits followed, beginning with My Turn Now and His Eyes from Real Life Conversations. In 1989, Chapman was nominated a record 10 times in the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.
