Biography
22 January 1953, Hanford, California, USA. Following the success of Escape and Frontiers, the members of US band Journey took an extended break in order to pursue solo projects. Vocalist Steve Perry assembled a team of respected session players to produce Street Talk, which displayed soul and R&B influences in both Perrys vocals and songwriting, and proved a superb showcase for his talents. Street Talk proved to be the most successful of the Journey solo efforts, producing an enormous US hit in Oh Sherrie, an emotive tribute to Perrys girlfriend, and its influence on the style of Raised On Radio, Journeys final album, was obvious. However, amid rumours of up to three follow-up records being scrapped, it was not until 1994 that For The Love Of Strange Medicine saw the resumption of Perrys career, with a more straightforward AOR style than on the previous album.
