Biography
Stephen Lee Cropper, 21 October 1941, Dora, Missouri, USA. This economical but effective guitarist was a founder member of the Mar-Keys, a high school band whose instrumental single, Last Night, provided a cornerstone for the emerging Stax Records label in 1961. Cropper worked with several groups constructed around the companys house musicians, the most successful of which was Booker T. And The MGs. The latter group not only had several hits under its own identity, but over the next few years was the muscle behind almost every performance released via the Stax studio. However, Croppers prowess was not only confined to playing.
