Turner Stephen Bruton, 7 November 1948, Delaware, USA. Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, Bruton benefited from the fact that his father’s record store was the focal point for all types of musical activity. Folk music provided his first inspiration to play the guitar, but at night he and his brother Sumter listened to the blues on local radio. As a teenager, he and T-Bone Burnett played early shows at clubs such as the Tracer and the East Side, where he met Delbert McClinton. Moving to Woodstock in 1970, he took a serious interest in the guitar and within a year was offered a job with Kris Kristofferson, whom he had met earlier in Texas. The relationship lasted 15 years, during which time Bruton also worked with McClinton and formed Little Whisper And The Rumors with Glen Clark.
