Biography
5 December 1972, Milan, Italy. Taking up the piano as a child, Bollani studied formally and made his professional debut at the age of 15. Continuing with his studies, in 1993 he received a diploma in piano from the Cherubini Conservatory of Florence. His repertoire is decidedly eclectic, ranging over classical, contemporary jazz, pop rock and Brazilian forms. In particular, he established a considerable reputation among the avant garde. In 1998 Musica Jazz magazine voted him Best Jazz Talent Of The Year, in 2000 he won the Italian Django DOr award, in 2002 he won the Positano Prize and the following year was winner of the New Star Award from the Japanese Swing Journal magazine.
