Biography
US drone rock outfit formed in the early 90s in Austin, Texas, by guitarists Brian McBride (1970, Irving, Texas, USA) and Adam Wiltzie (b. September 1969, New York City, New York, USA). Drawn together by a passion for the pioneering ambient work of Brian Eno, the duo made their recording debut in 1995 with Music For Nitrous Oxide, released on the independent Sedimental label. Recorded on a primitive home set-up, the album unveiled McBride and Wiltzies modus operandi, with long, patiently constructed tracks featuring guitar feedback, tape hiss, and snatches of voice transmissions, creating an hypnotic and eerie listening experience. The following years Gravitational Pull Vs. The Desire For An Aquatic Life stretched out even further into minimalist ambience, steering the duos music away from any conventional musical reference points and into the realms of pure sound.
