Biography
Given their presence on Californian Punk label Drive-Thru, it could be assumed that Something Corporate chose their name as an ironic swipe against the mainstream and although the band also appeared on the Warped tour they made little effort to disguise their blatant pop sensibilities. Formed in Orange County California, USA when, Andrew McMahon (vocals/piano), Brian Ireland (drums) and Clutch (bass) got together to play a school talent show, and although they won they quickly disbanded. After McMahon met guitarist Josh Partington at a party, the singer-songwriters desire to play in a band returned, and after calling upon Ireland and Clutch once more and enlisting additional guitarist William Tell, Something Corporate was formed. The quintet soon found itself opening local shows for national acts such as Sugar Ray and Better Than Ezra, releasing a CD Ready Break in conjunction with a local venue.
