Biography
Boston, Massachusetts, USA-based hardcore band Slapshot has been rolling steadily along (and turning a deaf ear to current musical trends) since the early 80s. With the original Boston hardcore scene in danger of becoming all but extinct at the time, a few former members of local bands decided to unite and form a new outfit. After a few chance meetings, guitarist Steve Risteen (ex-Terminally Ill) and vocalist Jack Kelly (ex-Negative FX and Last Rights) decided to form a new hardcore band. They recruited bass player Jonathan Anastas (ex-Decadence and DYS) and drummer Mark McKaye and recorded Slapshots debut release, the seven-track Back On The Map, that was released in 1986 on Taang! Records. Bass players continued to come-and-go, but the trio of Risteen, Kelly, and McKaye remained together through the early 90s, resulting in further releases such as 1988s Step On It and 1990s Sudden Death Overtime.
